Head in the Game, Eyes on the Goal

Last Monday, September 29, 2025, LPU Manila’s student-athletes had the privilege of learning from Coach Marcus Jarwin A. Manalo, Sports Psychologist and a Consultant for the LPU Pirates in his empowering session entitled “Head in the Game, Eyes on the Goal.”

Coach Marcus introduced the PERMA-Plus Model, a framework that emphasizes Positive Emotion, Engagement, Relationships, Meaning, Accomplishment, Physical Health, and Optimism, as a guide for achieving both peak performance and overall well-being. Through his talk, our student-athletes were reminded that flourishing is not just about winning games or reaching goals but also about nurturing a balanced and fulfilling life.

The session emphasized that success becomes more meaningful when student-athletes invest in their holistic growth by building positive relationships, cultivating resilience, and aligning goals with personal purpose. With this mindset, both athletic and personal victories become sustainable and deeply rewarding.
